In the second part of the study, the psychologists analysed the data to see if there were differences in reading medium preference between Year 4 and Year 6 pupils. The psychologists observed the first 10 minutes of free-reading time for each pupil. They classified the reading preference as either 'digital' (reading on tablets or e-readers) or 'print' (reading physical books). The results are set out in Table 3 below:
