There have been recent reports that physical activity can significantly improve sleep quality. A researcher conducted a study to identify a possible relationship between weekly physical exercise and sleep quality in young adults.
The researcher obtained an opportunity sample of 10 students, aged 17–18 years, from a local college. Each student provided self-report data about the number of hours they spent doing moderate-to-vigorous physical exercise over a period of one week.
Each student also completed a standardized sleep quality index questionnaire, which provided a score for their sleep quality. The questionnaire was scored out of 100, where a low score indicated poor sleep quality and a high score indicated excellent sleep quality.
The raw data collected in the study are shown in Table 1 below.
