A psychologist investigated the impact of using interactive hand puppets versus digital cartoons in a classic perspective-taking task. There were 80 participants, all five years old. The researcher assigned the first 40 children on the school register to Group A (interactive puppets) and the remaining 40 children to Group B (digital cartoons).
For each participant, the researcher recorded whether they successfully passed the perspective-taking task.
One way of improving this study would be to use random allocation to assign the children to the groups. Explain how random allocation could have been carried out in this study.
