South-West Gig-Economy Health Survey

Researchers investigated the physical fatigue and occupational stress experienced by app-based courier delivery cyclists. They asked participants to wear a biometric smart-band for 7 consecutive days in November to record daily active hours, average heart rate during deliveries, and daily self-reported physical discomfort scores (on a scale of 1 to 10).

The study recruited 80 participants: all were male courier cyclists aged 18–24 operating exclusively within the city centre of Bristol.

Before the study, researchers created a coding system to categorise qualitative diary entries, including categories such as: traffic-related anxiety, inclement weather complaints, and physical exhaustion levels.

Briefly explain how far the results from this study can be generalised.
