Research Scenario

A researcher studied a group of toddlers who had transitioned to full-time daycare at different ages. Each child was observed by the researcher during free-play sessions in their nursery and given a score for cooperative play. A high score indicated that the child engaged in a very high amount of cooperative, prosocial behaviour. The research showed that the earlier children had started attending daycare, the higher their cooperative play score.

Question

Explain one ethical issue and one methodological issue associated with using observation to assess children's cooperative play in this study.
