Scenario

A researcher noticed differences in social interaction styles among primary school pupils. They designed an experiment to investigate differences in cooperative sharing behavior between children who are only-children and children who have siblings.

The researcher conducted the study using pupils from two local primary schools. There were 40 children in each category at School X, and 30 children in each category at School Y. Parents provided written informed consent. Using stratified sampling across both schools, the researcher selected twelve only-children and twelve children with siblings to participate.

Each child was observed for 20 minutes during a structured group board game in their normal classroom. The researcher recorded the number of times each child voluntarily shared their game resources with others.
