CIE IGCSE Maths (0580) is a Level 1/Level 2 qualification regulated by Ofqual, taken by students aged 14–16. It covers number, algebra and graphs, geometry and mensuration, trigonometry, vectors and transformations, and probability and statistics, with a strong focus on with a strong focus on applying mathematical techniques to solve problems in abstract and real-life contexts. The course is available at Core and Extended tier, typically 130 guided learning hours, with first assessment in 2025.

CIE IGCSE Maths builds the skills examiners reward. By the end of the course you should be able to:

  • recall and apply mathematical knowledge and techniques
  • carry out routine procedures accurately with and without a calculator
  • organise, process and interpret information in tables, graphs and diagrams
  • estimate, approximate and work to an appropriate degree of accuracy
  • analyse a problem and select a suitable strategy to solve it
