Gradient and derivative

Gradient and derivative

Graph of a curve with an upward tangent labeled positive gradient, a horizontal tangent labeled stationary point, and a downward tangent labeled negative gradient

The gradient of a straight line is constant, but the gradient of a curve changes from point to point. To find the gradient at one exact point, we draw a tangent and measure the gradient of that tangent.

Step-by-step lessons covering CIE IGCSE Maths Differentiation for Core and Extended tier. Each lesson works through exam-style questions in Paper 1 and Paper 3 (Core) or Paper 2 and Paper 4 (Extended) format. Start with the Core-tier fundamentals in number and algebra before moving on to the more demanding Extended-only topics like calculus-adjacent algebra and advanced trigonometry.
