A sky club for newcomers
Source A: an original imagined contribution by a prospective member of an astronomy club.
I would like to join a sky club because looking up leaves me with questions I cannot organise alone. I do not need to arrive already knowing the names. A group which makes room for a basic question could help me connect a diagram with something I am trying to notice outside.
I would be disappointed if every evening became a competition over who had seen the most. My first useful visit might produce no impressive sighting. It might simply help me understand what to ask next time. That would still be a reason to return.
The invitation should explain what happens when outdoor observation is not possible. If a different activity is offered, say what it is. I can accept limits more easily when I know what kind of evening I am choosing, rather than treating a clear sky as something a programme can promise.
Source B: an original programme for an invented club session.
