Question 203

Students are preparing a short guide for volunteers who will write route guides for families attending a school open evening. Two people have read a draft route guide and commented on it:

Trial readerComment
A visitor who has not been to the school before“The list of rooms was useful, but I was not sure what order to visit them in.”
A parent visiting with a younger child“Some room names meant nothing to me, and I could not tell which activities were suitable for younger children.”

Write a guide for the volunteers. Explain how to prepare and select information for their route guides, how to organise and explain it for visiting families, and how they can use the trial readers’ comments to improve a draft.

Your work will be assessed on communication and adaptation to audience and purpose (27 marks), and organisation and technical accuracy (18 marks).
