Question 153

A consultation panel of students, teachers and school leaders is reviewing break-time facilities. One suggestion is to trial a supervised quiet room that students could choose instead of the usual social areas.

Write the speech you would deliver to the consultation panel. Present your response to the suggestion and recommend what the school should do.

You could consider:

  • reasons why students might or might not use the room
  • ways to keep the space calm, fair and manageable
  • how the school could decide whether the trial had been successful.

Your work will be assessed on communication and adaptation to audience and purpose (27 marks), and organisation and technical accuracy (18 marks).
