The new timetable
My name had appeared beside the breakfast programme for the first time that week. I was pleased enough to keep checking the timetable on my phone, but I had not told my friends when to listen. If the first programme went badly, I preferred not to imagine them hearing it. In the studio, the technician talked me through the controls without making them sound mysterious. By the time he left, I could see how each part fitted into the next. I put my script down and tested the microphone once more.
In your own words, explain the writer's thoughts and feelings before presenting the programme.
