A question for the director
The question in my notebook had seemed sensible when I wrote it at home. In the cinema foyer, surrounded by people discussing films I had never heard of, it looked embarrassingly simple. I considered replacing it with something longer. Then I remembered that I genuinely wanted to know how the director chose the final scene. I had listened to three earlier interviews without hearing an answer. I left the wording alone and waited for the doors to open, hoping that somebody else would ask the first question.
In your own words, explain the writer's thoughts and feelings before asking the director a question.
