Question 91

Inside the signal hut

The door opened into a room containing a desk, a chair and the old radio equipment we had come to inspect. Dust lay thickly over the logbook, and an unbroken cobweb joined the chair to the desk. From outside, the hut had appeared ready for visitors, with fresh paint on its walls and clean glass in the windows. Once inside, however, we realised that testing the equipment would have to wait until we had cleared a place to work.

From the passage, select two words or phrases that show the room had not been used recently.
