Question 3

The half-filled drawer

The room containing the seed drawers was cool, and the air felt dry. Each packet carried a collection date and a place name. The assistant showed me how the records connected a small envelope with a particular patch of ground. Without those details, one packet could easily resemble another. I had imagined the collection as a store of future plants. It was also a store of information that could not be recovered simply by opening the paper.

From the passage, select two words or phrases that describe conditions inside the collection room.
