The unsigned suggestion
Original opinion extract, written for practice.
I encourage complete honesty from my team. That is why I was initially pleased when the office installed an anonymous suggestion box: people could explain difficulties without awkward personal conversations. The first card complained that I interrupt meetings. I would have liked to ask its author for an example, but naturally no name was provided. Another claimed our deadlines were unrealistic. Again, very easy to write when nobody must defend the claim. I have proposed that future suggestions include a signature, so we can reward useful contributions and avoid a cloud of unowned complaints. The box should remain, of course. It demonstrates that every voice is welcome. We simply need to know which voice we are welcoming before deciding how much attention it deserves.
