A lawn which stays green

Original opinion extract, written for practice.

The advertisement promises a perfect lawn without work. I can see why that sounds attractive to someone who cannot manage a mower or wants a usable patch beside the house. I am less persuaded by the word perfect. My old grass contains clover, uneven colour and places the birds examine with more interest than I do. None of that looks immaculate. It does mean something is happening there besides the maintenance of one approved shade of green. Before we cover the ground, I would like us to ask what we want the space to do and which choices are available. A practical need deserves a practical answer. It does not require us to describe every living irregularity as a fault which has finally been corrected.

Use your own words to evaluate the writer’s attitude to replacing a lawn with artificial grass. Give details from the extract to justify your answer.
