A student is investigating the path of light using a semi-circular glass block.

Figure 1 shows the experimental setup.

A diagram of a semi-circular glass block on a sheet of paper. A ray of light is directed at the curved boundary of the block. The ray is aimed directly towards the center mark of the flat face. The ray passes straight through the curved boundary without bending, and then bends (refracts) as it exits the flat face. A dashed normal line is drawn perpendicular to the flat face at the center mark.

Describe how the student can ensure that the light ray does not change direction as it enters the curved surface of the glass block.
