An industrial robotic loading arm consists of a horizontal beam pivotally mounted to a vertical support structure. The beam is kept horizontal by a vertical upward force T T\,T exerted by a hydraulic actuator.

Figure 1 shows the forces acting on the horizontal beam and their horizontal distances from the pivot joint.
