An engineer is constructing a prototype of a simple AC generator (alternator) to demonstrate electromagnetic induction.

The engineer is provided with the following components:

  • a rectangular coil of copper wire
  • a pair of permanent magnetic poles (North and South)
  • two continuous slip rings and carbon brushes
  • a sensitive centre-zero galvanometer

Draw a labeled diagram to show how these components should be arranged and connected to function as a working AC generator.
