Figure 1 shows a floating oceanographic buoy anchored in a tidal estuary.

The buoy is held in place by two horizontal mooring cables.

The tension, T1T_1T1​, in the first cable has a magnitude of 12 kN12\text{ kN}12 kN. The tension, T2T_2T2​, in the second cable has a magnitude of 16 kN16\text{ kN}16 kN.

The cables are at right angles to each other.
