Amplitude and wavelength

Amplitude and wavelength

Transverse wave with the undisturbed position, crest, trough, amplitude from the centre line to a crest, wavelength between adjacent crests, and crest-to-trough distance labelled as twice the amplitude

The amplitude AAA is the maximum displacement from the undisturbed position. Measure it vertically from the centre line to a crest or trough, not from trough to crest.

  3. /6.1.2 Properties of waves

Step-by-step lessons on AQA GCSE Physics 6.1.2 Properties of waves. Each one builds up to exam-style questions. Build a strong grip on equations, units and Key Stage 3 fundamentals before tackling the more demanding topics like electromagnetism, the particle model of matter and space physics.
