Appliances transfer energy
An electrical appliance transfers energy from an electrical supply to one or more energy stores. The supply may be the chemical energy store of a battery or the ac mains, which is an electrical supply rather than an energy store. For example, a lamp transfers energy electrically from the supply and transfers energy to the surroundings by radiation. Some of this radiation is visible light, and some energy is transferred to the thermal energy store of the surroundings.
