A ratio compares quantities by counting equal parts. In a ratio like 4:54:54:5, the first quantity has 444 parts and the second has 555 parts, so there are 999 parts altogether.
To turn one part of a ratio into a fraction of the whole, put that part over the total number of parts. So the fractions are 49\frac{4}{9}94 and 59\frac{5}{9}95.
