Joining partway through the year

Pupils who join your school after the start of the year often arrive when everyone else already seems to know the routines. The student council is putting together a welcome pack for them.

Write a section for a guide in the welcome pack, advising new pupils on how to settle in during their first few weeks.

You could include:

  • getting to grips with the timetable, the buildings and daily routines
  • joining activities and getting to know other pupils
  • knowing where to turn if something goes wrong.

You may also use your own ideas.

Your response will be assessed for communication and organisation, and for vocabulary, sentence structures, spelling and punctuation. The total includes 16 marks for vocabulary, sentence structures, spelling and punctuation.
