Question 33

Stories from the neighbourhood

Text: an original contemporary report-style practice extract.

The community station took its weekly programme to the old library hall, where residents had been invited to share memories of the neighbourhood. The first resident to speak described a bakery that had stood beside the railway bridge. A map of the district was pinned near the microphone, and the producer read out several listeners’ messages before the programme ended. The station plans to broadcast another collection of local stories next month.

From the extract, identify where the programme was held and what the first resident to speak described.
