The workshop sign-out board
Text: an original contemporary report-style practice extract.
Volunteers at the community repair workshop used to write their names in chalk beside each tool they borrowed. The board hung close to the main workbench, where sleeves and equipment frequently brushed against it and erased the entries. Organisers replaced the board with numbered wooden tokens that fitted into slots beside the tool names. Each volunteer collected a matching number when signing in. Some people initially forgot to return their tokens, but staff could now see which tools were in use.
Identify one weakness of the former sign-out method described in the extract.
