Question 307

A repair afternoon with realistic expectations

Your youth group has been asked to host a repair afternoon at the community hall. People may bring everyday items, but the volunteers have different skills and the organisers do not know in advance what visitors will need help with.

Write a section for a guide for young people who may organise a similar event. Show how organisers can make choices that use volunteers’ abilities well, give visitors a clear idea of what to expect and deal considerately with repairs that cannot be completed.

You may also use your own ideas.

Your response will be assessed for communication and organisation, and for vocabulary, sentence structures, spelling and punctuation. The total includes 16 marks for vocabulary, sentence structures, spelling and punctuation.
