Question 236

A place to wait after school

Some pupils cannot leave school as soon as lessons end because they are waiting for a bus or for an adult to collect them. The school is considering closing the entrance hall immediately after lessons.

Write a letter to the headteacher persuading them to provide a suitable indoor waiting place after school.

In your letter, you should:

  • explain why pupils may need somewhere to wait
  • propose practical rules or arrangements for the space
  • address concerns the school may have about providing it.

You may invent relevant details.

Your response will be assessed for communication and organisation, and for vocabulary, sentence structures, spelling and punctuation. The total includes 16 marks for vocabulary, sentence structures, spelling and punctuation.
