Question 192

Returning to learning

A recent discussion among pupils has shown that returning to lessons after time away can be harder than simply collecting a list of missed tasks.

Write a letter to your headteacher setting out why pupils can struggle to recover missed learning and persuading the headteacher to introduce a more helpful return-to-school arrangement.

You could include:

  • what a returning pupil needs to know first
  • ways to separate essential work from work that can wait
  • how support could change after a short or extended absence.

You may also use your own ideas.

Your response will be assessed for communication and organisation, and for vocabulary, sentence structures, spelling and punctuation. The total includes 16 marks for vocabulary, sentence structures, spelling and punctuation.
