Watching from the balcony

Text: an original contemporary personal account-style practice extract.

At the theatre, I appreciated the balcony seat’s clear view of the dancers’ formations. From above, I could see patterns that had disappeared when I sat near the stage. I also liked having the ticket cost less than a seat downstairs. The stairs were steep, and I had to arrive earlier to climb them without hurrying. I would not recommend that position to everyone. For me, though, the distance changed what I watched rather than simply making the performers seem smaller.

From the extract, give two advantages the writer found in the balcony seat.
