Question 145

A reading challenge for everyone

Your school is planning a reading challenge in which pupils choose something to read and share their experience with others.

Write the text of a speech for a school assembly persuading pupils to take part.

You could include:

  • what pupils might choose to read
  • how taking part could be enjoyable or useful
  • ways to join in without speaking to the whole assembly
  • how the challenge could welcome pupils with different reading habits.

You may also use your own ideas.

Your response will be assessed for communication and organisation, and for vocabulary, sentence structures, spelling and punctuation. The total includes 16 marks for vocabulary, sentence structures, spelling and punctuation.
