The harbour timetable
Text: an original contemporary report-style practice extract.
The harbour office moved a morning sailing to the afternoon after the berth was closed for inspection. Passengers could transfer their tickets to the later sailing without an extra charge. The office offered refunds to those unable to travel later, but did not provide road transport to another port. Staff put the revised departure time on the pier noticeboard and phoned passengers who had supplied a number. The inspection concerned the berth; the vessel itself had not failed a test.
From the extract, identify one reason the morning sailing was moved to the afternoon.
