The leaking nursery
An original fiction passage set in the nineteenth century.
A patch of damp had spread across the nursery ceiling, and drops of rain were falling beside the fireplace. Mrs Elwood inspected the room in silence. She decided that the children would sleep in the morning room until the ceiling was dry. Before leaving, she instructed the housekeeper to send for a slater to replace the missing roof tiles that afternoon.
Give two arrangements Mrs Elwood makes after discovering the damage.
