Calcium carbonate reacts with dilute hydrochloric acid to produce carbon dioxide gas.

The rate of reaction between calcium carbonate and dilute hydrochloric acid at 25 ∘C25\,^\circ\text{C}25∘C was investigated using different sizes of calcium carbonate pieces (marble chips).

The total mass of calcium carbonate and all other conditions were kept the same.

The results are shown in Table 1.
