Question 13

A grower produces tomatoes in a large greenhouse. In winter the rate of photosynthesis of her tomato plants is low, so the yield of tomatoes is small.

The grower is deciding whether to install electric lamps, a paraffin heater that releases carbon dioxide as the paraffin burns, or both.

Explain how these changes could increase the rate of photosynthesis of the tomato plants in winter, and why the grower must also consider the cost of making them.
