OCR A Level Religious Studies (H573) is a Level 3 qualification regulated by Ofqual, taken by students aged 16–18. It covers philosophy of religion (arguments for God's existence, religious experience and religious language), the problem of evil and suffering, normative ethical theories and their application to contemporary issues, developments in the religious thought of a chosen world religion, sources of religious wisdom and authority, the relationship between religion and society, and the works and arguments of key scholars, with a strong focus on with a strong focus on constructing reasoned, evidence-based arguments and critically evaluating religious, philosophical and ethical viewpoints. The course is a linear qualification graded A*–E, typically 360 guided learning hours, with first assessment in 2018.
