Question 105

Research Scenario: Mindfulness and Stress Study

Mindfulness meditation has become increasingly popular as a tool to manage stress, yet we know relatively little about how teenagers experience it on a day-to-day basis. Why do some teenagers find mindfulness deeply relaxing while others struggle to focus? Does the time of day, or the presence of background noise, affect its perceived success? Do older teenagers practice mindfulness more consistently than younger teenagers? There are many unanswered questions. To investigate further, researchers want to use the self-report method to find out more about teenagers' experiences of mindfulness.

Explain one strength and one weakness of using the self-report method in this study.
