Cognitive psychologists investigated the impact of electronic device usage immediately before bed on sleep quality. A sample of ten adult participants monitored their pre-bed habits over a two-week period. They recorded the average daily screen time (in minutes) they spent on their smartphones in the hour before going to sleep. Using wearable polysomnography trackers, they also recorded their average nightly duration of deep sleep (in minutes). The collected data is shown in the table below.
| Participant | Average daily screen time in the hour before bed (minutes) | Average duration of deep sleep per night (minutes) |
|---|---|---|
| A | 10 | 110 |
| B | 50 | 50 |
| C | 35 | 70 |
| D | 60 | 35 |
| E | 20 | 95 |
| F | 45 | 60 |
| G | 55 | 40 |
| H | 15 | 100 |
| I | 25 | 85 |
| J | 58 | 105 |
