A cognitive psychologist conducted a study to investigate whether focus levels among software engineers differ based on their workspace environment. She compared employees from two different office layouts: one working in an open-plan office, and another working in individual soundproof pods.

Participants completed a daily self-report questionnaire where their concentration and focus level was rated on a scale from 1 to 9 (with 9 representing extremely deep, uninterrupted focus).
