Question 126

A digital UX researcher is investigating whether the design of a mobile app's navigation menu affects the time taken to complete a checkout process. Ten participants are randomly allocated to one of two conditions:

  • Condition X: Five participants complete a simulated purchase using an app with a tab bar at the bottom.
  • Condition Y: Five different participants complete the exact same purchase using an app with a three-line 'hamburger' menu at the top-left.

The time taken (in seconds) to complete the checkout is recorded for each participant. The data collected is presented in the table below:

ParticipantCondition X Time (Tab Bar)Condition Y Time (Hamburger)
11829
21532
32228
41935
51731

Draw a fully labelled bar chart showing the mean checkout time for each condition. Plot the means to two significant figures.
