"Children's storybooks still heavily feature mothers in nurturing, domestic roles, while fathers are often depicted as adventurous or working outdoors. TV shows aimed at young children frequently portray heroic, problem-solving male lead characters and supportive, emotionally expressive female sidekicks. In the home, parents tend to assign chores along traditional lines, such as girls helping with cooking and boys with gardening. However, by early adolescence, peer group influences and shared digital gaming spaces seem to override these early distinctions."
