In a qualitative investigation, two clinical psychologists used content analysis to examine 120 archived threads from an online anxiety support forum to study digital peer-support behaviors. They found that 55% of the peer-support interactions involved active cognitive reframing. The most common supportive behaviors identified were "de-escalating panic" and "validating emotional distress". Other coded categories included "sharing breathing exercises", "normalising symptoms", and "recommending evidence-based resources".
