Researchers conducted a study to investigate the effect of post-event discussion on eyewitness recall accuracy.
Participants watched a video of a street theft. They were then split into two groups. Group A discussed the event with a confederate who introduced misleading details, while Group B completed a silent distractor puzzle alone. Afterward, all participants completed a facial recognition test, receiving an accuracy score out of 15 (where 15 was perfectly accurate and 0 was completely inaccurate).
The experiment used an independent groups design.
