Researchers are investigating the charging habits of electric vehicle (EV) drivers across a large metropolitan area. They ask selected drivers to record every charging event over a two-week period, including the duration, cost, and location of the charge.
There are 160 participants in the study: 40 EV owners from each of four distinct districts (North, East, South, and West). Within each district, there are equal numbers of Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) owners.
The researchers used random sampling to obtain equal numbers of BEV and PHEV owners from the four districts. Outline how random sampling could have been carried out in this study.
