Question 140

There have been concerns that excessive screen time on social media platforms might negatively impact teenagers' sleep patterns. A researcher conducted a study to explore the relationship between weekly social media screen time and sleep quality in young adults. The researcher obtained an opportunity sample of 12 students, aged 17 to 18 years, from a local college. Each student provided self-report data tracking the amount of time (in hours) they spent actively using social media apps over a period of 5 days. Each student also completed a Sleep Quality Index (SQI) questionnaire. The questionnaire was scored out of 40, where a low score indicated poor sleep quality and a high score indicated excellent sleep quality.
