Discuss Bowlby's maternal deprivation theory. Refer to the experience of Leo as part of your discussion.

Leo's Case Study

Leo was removed from his biological family at nine months old due to severe parental neglect. He spent his early childhood in multiple temporary foster placements before being adopted at the age of eight. Now a teenager, Leo has a volatile relationship with his adoptive parents and frequently experiences angry outbursts at home. He is regularly suspended from school for disruptive behaviour and rule-breaking. His latest progress report reads: 'Leo is significantly behind his peers academically and struggles to show empathy or remorse when his actions upset others.'
