Nursery practitioners, Clara and Rajesh, are discussing the eating habits of two children in their care, Toby and Amira.
Clara says, "Toby is extremely difficult during snack time. He flatly rejects any fruit or vegetable he hasn't seen before, like kiwi or broccoli, and insists on eating only sweet, calorie-dense foods like honey sandwiches and raisins."
Rajesh says, "Amira is the opposite. At first, she wouldn't touch our weekly spiced lentil stew. But after she sat at the staff table and watched several of us eating it with enthusiasm every day, she started copying us. Now she loves it and happily eats the same meals as the staff."
Describe and evaluate two explanations for food preferences. Refer to Clara and Rajesh's observations in your answer.
