A sociologist wanted to investigate whether there is a difference in the self-reported confidence levels of first-generation and multi-generation university students during their first term. She obtained a sample of 12 first-generation students and 12 multi-generation students from a local university. She asked each participant to rate their confidence on a scale of 1 to 100, where 1 represents extremely low confidence and 100 represents extremely high confidence.

The sociologist recorded the confidence ratings given by each participant and calculated the median confidence score for each group.

The results of the study are shown in Table 1 below.
