Question 69

In this question use g=9.8g = 9.8g=9.8 m s−2^{-2}−2.

Two particles AAA, of mass 2 kg, and BBB, of mass 3 kg, are connected by a light inextensible string. The string passes over a smooth pulley fixed at the top of a smooth plane inclined at 30° 30°\,30° to the horizontal.

A A\,A lies on the plane with the string parallel to a line of greatest slope, and B B\,B hangs freely with the string taut. The system is released from rest.

a.

Find the acceleration of the system.

[3]
b.

Find the tension in the string.
